Ever wonder which characters you should be featuring the most during Halloween? Keep reading to learn this year's top 5 options!
There's a secret to marketing characters; the more you push a character in your client's eyesight, the more likely they are to book it. It works just like personalized ads; you search for a product today and then you get a video ad about it the next day. On the third day, you purchase it. Same goes with characters, and there are certain characters that fit more into a season than others.
The first and obvious choice to feature is Cinderella. This gorgeous princess literally travels in a pumpkin carriage and dresses up to go to a ball. If that doesn't scream Halloween, I don't know what does!
Using her as the main character for your company's Halloween season is a great tactic and she's a princess that older and younger kids will recognize and enjoy interacting with. You could even pair her up with the Fairy Godmother or Prince Charming for a higher end experience.
The second choice are the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus. That mischievous trio are the poster children at the Disney Parks and Resorts for this season... so why wouldn't they be yours? You can offer an experience with the Sanderson Sisters that is only available during Halloween season and it will make your service even more attractive in the eyes of your clients because it is offered only once a year. The tricky thing about these sisters is that they come in a set of three so prepare your budget if you haven't purchased them because premiering one without the others doesn't really make sense.
The third option divides into a variety of choices... villains and rare characters. Halloween is considered a spooky season and who is spookier than a Disney villain? Promoting villains like Maleficent, Gaston, or Ursula, or rare characters like Megara, Lottie, or Esmeralda will get you recognized amongst your competition and offer clients a unique, can't-miss experience because they won't get the chance to meet these characters anywhere else. I always say, "rare characters are not a necessity but they are an important luxury".
The fourth option may not be for everyone at this point, but it's a great alternative if you are thinking ahead and prepping for upcoming releases. Asha, the new princess that will join the lineup, will make her debut in November. If you have the costume, wig, and details available and ready to premier, you can preview her at these exclusive experiences and offer a special teaser for your clients. Jumping ahead and premiering a character before other companies will also guarantee higher bookings; since no other company around you will have her available, you will have the option ready for clients who are eager to book.
Last but not least, you could feature Tiana during this month. As an expert in dealing with the Voodoo Man and spooky spirits of the bayou, this royal is a wonderful option to feature during spooky season. Not to mention, the Mardi Gras theme ties up with Halloween (concerning the dress up and vibrant colors) and can guarantee a swinging-good time for your clients. If you have Dr. Facilier in your roster, you could offer an experience with both of them as well.
Regardless the character you decide to feature this Halloween, be sure to let your clients know that they are the poster children for this season in your company; you could even give them seasonal overlays. Add them to your Facebook cover photo, service promo pics and other marketing media to ensure a cohesive branding campaign. The picture above features my poster children for this Halloween season; both characters appear in our newest Halloween show, so it's our way to promote all of our Halloween services while showcasing characters we choose to feature.
As an added bonus, schedule a Halloween photoshoot this year and store the pictures to use them in your promo and social media for next year. This Tiana and Rapunzel shoot was done last year and now, I can successfully promote Halloween and create branded posts because I prepared correctly for the season.
